Therapy, counselling and support groups

Psychological support can be used during pregnancy, but provider training, confidentiality, method, severity and crisis backup matter.

Direct guidance

What to know or do

Ask how the provider handles perinatal concerns, urgent deterioration, medicine coordination and privacy. A peer group can add connection but does not replace clinical care for severe symptoms.

What changes the answer

  • How long the change has lasted and how it affects sleep, eating, self-care and safety
  • Past diagnoses, trauma, treatment response, medicines and relapse warning signs
  • Privacy, practical support, coercion, immediate danger and who can stay with you

When to get individual help

This is a general pregnancy baseline, not personal clearance. Change course and ask for advice if symptoms, complications or an individual care plan make the situation different.
