Memory-making, rituals and private choices

Photos, keepsakes, naming, ceremonies, spiritual care or choosing none of these are personal options; there is no correct amount of public recognition or memory-making.

Direct guidance

What to know or do

Ask staff what choices are time-sensitive and whether items can be kept for later decisions. Make space for cultural and family needs without pressuring the pregnant person or partner to participate in a ritual they do not want.

What changes the answer

  • What has been confirmed, what remains uncertain and when follow-up can clarify it
  • Bleeding, pain, infection, faintness and other physical recovery or urgent-care needs
  • Personal, cultural, spiritual, partner, family and mental-health support preferences

When to get individual help

This is a general pregnancy baseline, not personal clearance. Change course and ask for advice if symptoms, complications or an individual care plan make the situation different.
