Unpasteurised juice, fresh cider and juice-bar drinks

Choose pasteurised juice during pregnancy; a fresh, raw or cold-pressed label does not mean the drink is free of harmful germs.

Direct guidance

What to know or do

Check refrigerated bottles and made-to-order drinks for pasteurisation. Washing produce does not provide the same control as treating the finished juice.

What changes the answer

  • The exact ingredients and caffeine or alcohol shown on the label
  • Serving size and what else you have had across the whole day
  • Whether vomiting, diabetes, dehydration or another condition changes the plan

When to get individual help

Choose a lower-risk alternative when possible. If the exposure already happened, record the product, amount, timing and symptoms and ask for advice instead of assuming harm.
