What to know or do

Use a soft breast pad if helpful and ask before antenatal expressing because timing and suitability depend on the pregnancy. Seek assessment for blood, pus, a new lump, fever, marked redness or severe pain.

What changes the answer

  • Severity, pattern, one-sided symptoms and accompanying bleeding, fever or fluid loss
  • Pregnancy week, baby movement and relevant conditions or medicines
